How to Measure your Kitchen
- Draw a rough diagram of your kitchen. Make notes of where you want your appliances.
- Measure the length of each wall, corner-to-corner, of your kitchen.
- Measure the width of your windows and door openings from outside edge of casings
- Measure from the outer edge of window and doorway casings to the corners of your walls.
- If you have a stove and a refrigerator on one wall, you should end up with five measurements -- the width from the corner of the wall to the stove, The width of the stove, The measurement in between the stove and the refrigerator, The width of the refrigerator and finally the space from refrigerator to outside edge of casing. These measurements should add up and equal the corner-to-corner measurement of the wall. As shown in diagram below.
- Measure floor to ceiling in three locations per wall. Since rooms are not always level, use the smallest measurement. This will help to determine the height of your wall cabinets.
